Always leave enough hair at the perimeter of the hairline to cover the tabs should the client want to pull their hair up. 

Always place the extensions in the direction of the hair growth making sure the hair lays down in the natural growth pattern.

Depending on your client's hair density and desired effect, spacing between the tabs may vary. 

As you brick-lay the extensions, you will automatically fill in any space, eliminating the need to cut the extension tabs. Making the extensions shorter in width will break the adhesive seal and could cause the tabs to flip and damage the client's hair. Tampering with the tape tabs voids their warranty. 

Keep an eye out for any separations or splits in the client's natural hair growth. Apply the tabs around them to avoid any possibility of the tabs showing, mostly in the top rows.
